It Is "Well" with My Soul

Melanie Braswell, Director of Pre-Licensure/Undergraduate Students,
Purdue University School of Nursing

"It Is Well with My Soul" is a wonderful expression of placing complete trust in the Lord, even when everything does not go the way we planned.  For instance, what if you are told you have heart disease?  Or told you have arthritis?  What if you are told you have high cholesterol?  Or you have high blood pressure?  What about diabetes or a need to lose some extra weight?  Or a host of many possible unplanned diagnoses?

How can we with the help and strength of God focus on our health?  What can we do to live “well?”  How can we say and mean the words, “It is well with my soul?”

Dr. Braswell received the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Purdue University in May 2007.  Her research interests include undergraduate nursing education and the prevention of surgical site infections.  She currently chairs the Board of Directors at First Christian Church in Lafayette, Indiana.

This workshop is sponsored by the Indiana Heartbeats of Faith Committee, Roger Heimer, Chair. As a part of the Disciples Church-Wide Health Care emphasis, a brief update on the Heartbeats Of Faith campaign will be presented by a representative of the Pension Fund.
